- Description
- In Verona, the Montague and Capulet families have been locked in a bitter feud for generations. Romeo, a Montague, sneaks into a Capulet feast and falls in love with Juliet, the Capulets' daughter. They marry in secret the next day with the help of Friar Laurence and Juliet's Nurse. Soon after, Juliet's cousin Tybalt kills Romeo's friend Mercutio, and Romeo kills Tybalt in revenge and is banished from the city. Juliet's parents, unaware of her marriage, order her to marry Count Paris. To escape this, she takes a potion from Friar Laurence that makes her appear dead, while the Friar sends word of the plan to Romeo. The message never reaches him. Believing Juliet is truly dead, Romeo returns to her tomb and takes poison. Juliet wakes, finds him dead and stabs herself with his dagger. Grief-stricken at the loss of their children, the two families finally end their feud.
